EuroGentest Laboratory Quality Award and WIN a free registration to participate in a EUGT workshop on accreditation

Aim

EuroGentest would like to recognize and reward recent contributions of individual laboratories to increasing awareness of the importance of quality management (QM) or to improve quality assurance (QAu) procedures in genetic testing services.

Possible scenarios could include:

- the implementation of an instrument, software or tool which implied improvement of quality in the lab and for the patient
- implementing a quality management system (QMS) or a part of a QMS (organizing internal audits, participation in a certain EQA scheme, ...) or obtaining accreditation
- addressing a call for action on a subject of particular importance in QM/QAu.

The final aim of the different initiatives should be: ‘the improvement of quality within genetic testing services, for the benefit of patients'.

 

Application Directions

Any genetic testing laboratory can submit a proposal for the Quality Award 2009. Proposals will also be accepted from developers, companies and organizations who submit a non-commercial application, intending to promote quality.

The proposal should not be more than 3500 characters and 1 figure or table, describing the work, development or implementation contributing to the improvement of quality for the patient or a call which highlighted a particular need.

Topics for the award should have a positive role model for the audience of the symposium.

Applications should be submitted before May 20, 2009. The selection procedure will be complete by May 30. Authors of retained proposals will be notified shortly thereafter; the retained proposals will be distributed in the participants' folders at the Symposium.

 

Selection procedure

The organizing committee plus the invited speakers will select a number of proposals. The selected proposals should be presented orally by a member of the laboratory on the second day of the symposium (5 min). To qualify for an award, a representative of the laboratory should attend the symposium in order to present the proposal orally if nominated and accept the award personally.

One laboratory (or organization) will receive the EuroGentest Laboratory Quality Award 2009 and a free registration for one person to participate in a EuroGentest workshop on accreditation organized in 2009-2010.
