Recommendation CM/Rec(2010)11 of the Committee of Ministers to member states on the impact of genetics on the organisation of health care services and training of health professionals

The committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe has issued an interesting document on genetics and its impact on national health care services.

In this document, recommendations are written to European member states on how they deal with this impact. The recommendations include suggestions for education and training of professionals in the field, as well as the recognition of the medical specialty. The importance of quality of genetic testing through the accreditation of genetic laboratories is also acknowledged. In addition, several ethical and social implications are discussed.
