Sarah Berwouts

Sarah Berwouts is working at the Centre of Human Genetics, University of Leuven. She graduated as a biomedical scientist and is now actively involved in that part of the project on quality management and accreditation/certification of genetic testing. She is doing research on the current situation in genetic testing services all over Europe, concerning quality assurance and implementing a quality system. In addition she is looking after the additional needs for continuous education by organizing workshops. In collaboration with the national accreditation bodies she is determining the specific requirements for accreditation in European genetic laboratories. She also contributes a part to the External Quality Assessment scheme for Cystic Fibrosis combined with the research on the use of synthetic control samples in molecular diagnostics.
