What

Dear Colleagues and Friends,

We will be delighted to host you in Istanbul-Turkiye during the “6th Eastern European Conference for Rare Diseases and Orphan Drugs: Rare Diseases Policy Development in Eastern European Countries”, which will take place this year in Istanbul, 24-26 November 2011. The event is a logical continuation of the very successful 1st to 5th Eastern European Conferences for Rare Diseases and Orphan Drugs, organised since 2005 in Eastern European countries.

The general objective of the conference is to discuss the development of policy on Rare Diseases and Orphan Drugs in Eastern European countries in comparison with the European Union’s policy. Rare Diseases and Orphan Drugs are the common issues of all policies at national, regional and international levels, cover a variety of aspects (science, medicine, industry, finance, health care policy, social policy), and are major challenges for the contemporary United Europe, and, in particular, for Eastern European countries. Therefore, we hope that the “6th Eastern European Conference for Rare Diseases and Orphan Drugs: Rare Diseases Policy Development in Eastern European Countries” will bring together all different groups of relevant people to improve the knowledge and the practice in the area of Rare Diseases and Orphan Drugs’ policies and to build a challenging successful cooperation and coordination between the groups towards establishing or developing Rare Diseases and Orphan Drugs’ policies in Eastern European countries. The scientific programme of the conference will have the traditional framework established in the previous Eastern European Conferences for Rare Diseases and Orphan Drugs, and will include the following plenary sessions and parallel workshops topics: European Union Policy for Rare Diseases, Eastern European Countries Policies for Rare Diseases, Best Practices on Rare Diseases, Networks & Centers of Reference for Rare Diseases, Challenges in Diagnosis, Challenges in Treatment, Role of Industry for Orphan Drugs Development and Access to Orphan Drugs, Awareness of Medical Professionals and Health Authorities, Challenges to Patients and Families, Empowerment of Patients, Organising Patients and Families, and Awareness of Patients and the Society.

For more information about the conference please visit the conference website at  www.raredisease2011.org Exit this website .

Just following the 6th Eastern European Conference, the “1st Turkish National Symposium for Rare Diseases and Orphan Drugs” will also be held on 27th November 2011.

We hope that you enjoy every moment of the “6th Eastern European Conference for Rare Diseases and Orphan Drugs”, which is one of the most important European events on Rare Diseases and Orphan Drugs, in Istanbul , a city with a great history and sophistication of Byzantium and Ottoman Empire.

We look forward in meeting you then.
