Unit 6 meeting in Porto

The Unit 6 meeting, being held directly after the Unit 3 meeting in Porto over the weekend of 23-24 September, will bring together national coordinators (patient organisation representatives) and healthcare professionals from a number of different European states. During the meeting progress will be made on a number of key issues including:

1. developing and refining, with the help of both patients and professionals, the key elements and standards necessary to ensure good quality written information that relates to genetic testing
2. developing a number of generic information leaflets for patients and families where significant gaps exist at present
3. developing sets of core competencies in genetics for health professionals from a range of disciplines

This work tackles directly a number of the key recommendations put forward in previous reports of the WP6.1 and WP6.2. These interim reports, written during the first 18 months of the Eurogentest project, are available on the Eurogentest website.
