NOW full access to TECHNIQUE DATABASE for all EuroGentest registrants at the Unit 5 homepage

EuroGentest Unit 5

Unit 5 is specifically involved with the coordination and integration of all activities required for complete technical evaluation, validation and subsequent implementation of new technologies into clinical diagnostic practice. Last year westarted with our yearly "call for Innovative Techniques in Genome Diagnostic" to recruit new developments and applications in genetic testing (see Unit 5 homepage). One of the aims of our platform is to improve the international exchange of information on evaluation and validation of genetic testing. In particular, it will generate clear guidelines, validation files and standard operating procedures (SOPs) for genetic tests and will limit the duplication of efforts and reduce the costs for the introduction into genetic services. In this respect, we have now set up a Technique database that will compile an inventory on existing and new technologies.

The Technique Database

In our effort to improve the introduction and implementation of new techniques into diagnostic laboratories EuroGentest Unit 5 now launches the Technique database. This database will collect and provide extensive and detailed information on all techniques that are or can be applied into genome diagnostics. It includes details on technical issues, type of samples, equipment required, possible applications, clinical relevance and many other features and also serves as a link to obtain further information on issues like the technique itself (related companies), IPRs and relevant certified SOPs.

It will not only harbor new techniques but also those already implemented in many accredited laboratories. In the future EuroGentest Unit 5 will add the results and information acquired from our evaluation programs on innovative and recently introduced techniques such as HR-MCA and MLPA. Only certified protocols (SOPs) can and will be added to the techniques described in the database.

Participate and submit your techniques

We hereby encourage other Laboratories to submit their new or well performing techniques with certified SOPs to the database. This way we hope to harmonize and facilitate the introduction of new techniques into diagnostics by providing a platform to exchange detailed information on new applications but also those already performing well in certified laboratories.

Take a look and feel free to submit additional techniques using the submission form.

We hope to see your response and participation
