Alastair Kent

P19 Alastair Kent is director of GIG's and president of the European Alliance of Genetic support groups and has collaborated with academic and clinical colleagues, private sector organizations and public/ governmental bodies in many educational initiatives and projects designed to engage public support for families with genetic disorders.
"The Genetic Interest Group (GIG)" is the UK alliance of patient support organizations for families with all types of genetic disorders. Representing over 120 different independent organizations it has a long experience of providing patient and public education in relation to genetics and human health. GIG has played a key role in promoting informal discussion of ethical, social and legal aspects of genetic developments in the UK for over a decade. It is a part of a virtual network of similar umbrella organizations in other member states, with contacts throughout the EU and in the Accession Countries.
