P21 Guillermo Antiñolo MD, PhD, specialist in Obstetrics and Gynecology, is Assistant Professor in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Seville University Medical School and Director of the Genetics and Reproduction Clinical Unit at the University Hospitals Virgen del Rocio. The Unit is devoted to medical genetics, prenatal diagnosis and reproductive medicine. His main research interests are molecular basis of Hirschsprung disease and retinal degeneration as well as the genetics and genomics of complex diseases (endometriosis, cancer, diabetes).
He is the Coordinator of the National Network of Research Centers on Genetic Rare Diseases (INERGEN) endorsed by the Instituto de Salud Carlos III of the Spanish Ministry of Health. 8 Research Centres, with a total of 29 Research Groups and 204 Researchers, compose the network. Its main goal is to establish and develop a sustainable model of virtual institute for the comprehensive management of genetic rare diseases (GRD), using different strategic programmes interconnecting transnational research to clinical applications, focused in the patients and their needs.
