EUROGENTEST PLATFORM: OPEN MEETING ON NEW TECHNOLOGIES AT ESHG

Satellite meeting 2008

On June 1, 2008 we had our third open meeting on ' New Technologies in Genome Diagnostics' at the European Society of Human Genetics Conference (ESHG) conference in Nice. Speakers from prominent research groups and companies presented their latest data on new and promising techniques in genetic testing. In addition we presented again several EuroGentest evaluation studies on new technologies recruited at our previous Satellite meeting in 2007. The program and talks of the Satellite meeting 2008 can be viewed at our Web page "New Technologies" in the topic Events and included the following topics:

• Digital PCR on microfluidic chips from Fluidigm Inc and its potential applications in diagnostics.
• EMMA and Zoom-in Array-CGH : Recent developments in the detection of mutations and large rearrangements
• Nanofluidic-enabled Single-molecule imaging from (BioNanomatrix a High Resolution DNA Fiber-FISH technique for genomic DNA analysis
• Again the results from the EuroGentest evaluation studies were presented including “Alamut ”, an Interactive decision-support software application for molecular genetics" and from our list of high-throughput mutation screening techniques, the HRM analysis on the LightCycler®480 from Roche Diagnostics. All studies were performed by our EuroGentest network of diagnostics labs in collaboration with the NGRL Wessex.

Participants

Participants were recruited through our ‘Call for Technology 2008’ as indicated at the EUGT-industry Webpage called "New Technologies". Next year in Vienna we will organize our next Satellite meeting on 'Innovative Techniques in Genome Diagnostics' at the ESHG 2009. If you would like to get the opportunity to present your new technique in genome testing at our technology platform, we encourage you to submit your test by completing the Call for Technology application form as indicated at this webpage.
