Platform for innovative techniques in genome diagnostics.

Currently, the field of genetics is witnessing a fast expansion of new technologies that could have a strong potential for application in genetic testing. Unfortunately, implementation of these novel technologies is often hampered by the lack of complete evaluation of their clinical utility and technical performance in a diagnostic setting.

Moreover, the uncoordinated introduction of tests in diagnostic laboratories that use different validation protocols results in poor consistency in the exchange of technical performance and subsequent validation.

Therefore Unit 5 of EuroGentest has initiated a platform that will coordinate and integrate all activities required for a complete technical evaluation, validation and subsequent implementation of these emerging technologies into clinical diagnostic practice. This Unit will coordinate these activities amongst a network of experts, and accredited diagnostic Centres of Excellence (CoEs) to ensure accurate and fast evaluation and implementation of new genetic tests.
