The National Genetics Education and Development Centre was established to provide a focal point for genetics education and training throughout the NHS. The Centre aims to facilitate health professionals' knowledge and understanding of genetics, enabling them to keep pace with the rapidly expanding field of medical genetics.
Public Health Genetics Website: www.phgu.org.uk which is funded by The Department of Health and The Wellcome Trust. The PHGU and the University of Cambridge Centre for Medical Genetics and Policy form the core of the Cambridge Genetics Knowledge Park. The project was created to develop a national strategy for the education of health professionals in genetics. It is also featured a review of medical undergraduate education in genetics, a review of postgraduate nurse education in genetics, a review of genetics departments websites, a seminar on some of the changing relationships between public and professionals, and a survey of educational work in genetics undertaken by pharmaceutical industry.
