QAu Databases

There is at present no simple and reliable way to identify, for a particular diagnostic test, a laboratory with a strong quality system, nor conversely to determine for a given laboratory what is included in its Quality Assurance (QAu) system. Therefore, EuroGentest is performing a survey on the status of Quality Assurance in European genetic laboratories, and will make this information available through a European QAu database developed by EuroGentest and Orphanet. Integrating such information into a QAu database will benefit laboratories by encouraging and providing recognition of their investment in QAu, and the consumer by a greater transparency and a possibility of a better-informed choice.
Furthermore, EuroGentest also aims to review different gene- and disease-specific databases in order to provide a portal to existing resources and to harmonize the approaches to mutation nomenclature in molecular genetic reporting.
